China HFMD Serang, 3 Children Killed

Disease HFMD (hand, foot and mouth disease) has killed three children and infected another 110 children in eastern China. Xinhua News Agency said on Sunday, all cases have been reported in Jian'ou city of Fujian province from October 1 to 17.

Officials said the provincial health office, the children who died from this infection under a year old and came from different cities. 20 children infected others are in intensive care in hospital.

Local provincial government has sent eight epidemic disease prevention experts to the city to help local medical staff, and check the children.

HFMD is a disease that often attacks children and is characterized by fever, sore throat, rash and reddened skin. The disease is spread through direct contact with nose and everything that issued from the throat such as saliva, fluid, feces from an infected person. It is not associated with HFMD disease that infects cattle, sheep and pigs.

In summer, the virus spread and make the pain around 24,000 people and killed dozens of people throughout mainland China because of the slow handling of this case in May in Anhui province, where the disease first began to emerge.
